What Happens When a v7 Project is Opened in v6

If a project is opened in WireCAD v7 it will automatically be converted to a v7 project. If you then open that project in WireCAD v6 it will display several oddities.

WireCAD v7 uses 1/100 DU as its base unit of measure where WireCAD v6 uses the floating point decimal.

As an example your cable text height in v6 is .25DU where in v7 it is 25/100DU or to say it differently v6 is .25 and v7 25.

So you can see that if you open a project in v6 that has been converted to v7 you will have really big blocks, text and your cables will be created with really big loops until you take the following measures in v6 (this list may not be inclusive):

  1. Convert your Cable Number Text Height back to decimal values by dividing the given number by 100.
  2. Convert your Autorouter offsets to decimal values.
  3. In the Equipment Library Display Preference tab divide all whole numbers by 100.
