In my drawings. If i use a network switch that should be feed into several equipment, in that drawing, i prefer to draw only the switch ports relevant for that drawing. However i Will also make a drawing of the whole switch, with pointers to the different equipment so i can see in one drawing, what is used and what is available.

Ok. So in one of the drawings i add a pointer out of the network switch (Source) and into a equipment from let say port 1, and into a port (destination)
I assign a cable and a number to this cable.

On the other drawing i draw the switch and assign it to the database as the same equipment name, number etc. And add a pointer on port 1.
As this is the same port as the switch in the other drawing, i just want this to be updated with cable number and destination.

Is this possible? This function is used in another tool i am using.

If this can be done with the "recover cable" -function it is not working in my project. It shows an error message attached.

Please advice.

There are a couple of ways to do this.
Let's try the easy one first. We are going to use the Equipment Visualizer (System Snapshot).
1. Open the Equipment List.
2. Select the Switch that you want to show all ports and connection on.
3. Click the Visualization Settings tab at the top of the page.
3. Select the Terminal to place. I have used the ICON_SD.DWG in the example drawing here.
4. Click the Visualization tab and wait for the view to be created.
5. In the attached screenshot I have Visualized the connections to the router in the demo project.
6. Copy to the clipboard or export to its own drawing using the buttons at the bottom of the Visualization tab page.

I hope this helps.
