Is there a way to rename the "User" columns in a grid? For example, if I want to have UserBool1 be changed to "Bad Cable" could that be done?

Yes. Open the Translation Manager on the Plugins menu.
Find the KeyString (CableUserBool1) and edit the en (English) translation value.
This works for most strings in the program.
This will not change the field names as they appear in reports. You will need to customize each report individually.
