This will guide you on the steps to create new signal types.

Before You Start

The signal type is used to determine the default cable type, the color of the cable line in the drawing as well as the Cable Number Prefix.

How To Create a New Signal Type

Step Description
1. In your Project Explorer, Click on the signal types icon under your Global Databases. You can also access the signal types grid by clicking Database>Signal Types.
2. At the top of the grid, you will see a blank field that runs the entire length of the grid. There will be fields for Type,Color, Signal Type, On Layer, Cable Manufacturer, Cable Type, Cable No Prefix and Cable No Range
3. Enter the type of signal in the first field. This will be what you would like the signal type to be defined as for example, DVI, Audio, Ethernet etc.
4. Enter the color you would like all cables of that type to show as. Click in the box and then click the Ellipsis to gain access to the drop down menu.
5. Enter the full description of the signal type. This field can be left blank if desired.
6. If you would like, you can enter in a On Layer to specify view on only a specific layer.
7. Enter the cable manufacturer. Select in the box and click the down arrow to view the list of available manufacturers. If you do not see your manufacturer, you will need to create that manufacturer in the Manufacturers Grid.
8. Enter the Cable Type. Select in the box and click the down arrow to view a list of the available cable types. If you do not see your cable type, you will need to create that Cable Type in the Cable Types Grid.
9. Enter the Cable Number Prefix you would like associated with this signal type. This is how all cables of this signal type will be prefixed in the drawing.
10. If you would like, you can enter a specific number range for cables in this signal type. For example, if you would like all cables that are signal type DVI to be numbered from 1000-1500, you would enter that range in this field.
